Programs

Coffee with the Curator

A casual monthly program offering a behind-the-scenes look at Florida Keys history, museum collections, and current research.

About the program

Each session features a different topic led by our curator, Dr. Heather Gonyeau — from new acquisitions and ongoing research to the stories behind the exhibits — with plenty of time for questions, conversation, and stories from the audience.

No lectures to prepare for and nothing to read ahead — just coffee, good company, and the history of these islands. Sessions are held at 10:30 AM on the third Wednesday of each month at the Center in Islamorada, and everyone is welcome, members and non-members alike.

We schedule each gathering about a month in advance. Check back here, watch our events page, or reach out and we'll make sure you hear about the next one.

What to expect

A new topic each month

Collections finds, exhibit research, Keys characters, and the questions visitors ask most — no two sessions are the same.

Conversation, not a lecture

Our curator shares what's happening behind the scenes, then the floor opens up for questions and your own Keys stories.

Everyone is welcome

Members and non-members alike. Bring a friend and your curiosity — the coffee is on us.
