The Mile Marker ladder
Where your shares can take you
Mile Markers are thresholds on the ladder of cumulative support. They are never revoked, and a Mile Marker certificate is issued at every threshold.

How Mile Markers are honored
- Your name on the Heritage Ledger Wall in the lobby
- A Mile Marker certificate at every threshold
- A commemorative medallion at 10 Shares and above
- A personal letter from the Board Chair
- Annual Report listing by Mile Marker band
- An annual statement of your Shares and next Mile Marker
- Recognition alongside your current giving level
How the ladder is counted
All documented past giving is credited from day one, and shares never expire. Donors are recognized two ways: their giving level this year, and their Mile Marker for a lifetime — for example, Navigator, 37 Heritage Shares.
Institutional grants are not counted toward Heritage Shares. Membership dues, admissions, retail, event tickets, and facility rentals are also excluded.

Heritage Share rules
Annual Fund gifts, restricted and unrestricted gifts, exhibit, education, collections, program sponsorship, event sponsorship, community and corporate partnership, capital, Future Fund, naming gifts, stock, DAF grants, IRA distributions, realized bequests, and legacy gifts earn Heritage Shares. Donors may request anonymous recognition at any time.
