A valued partnership
Staying at the Islander Resort? We’re your neighbors.
The Center stands on the Islander Resort property — a partnership we treasure. The resort provides our home, and the nonprofit Foundation operates the Center independently as the island’s museum. Together we’ve made it easy for every Islander guest to add the story of the Florida Keys to their stay: no driving, no parking hunt, no reservation needed.
Whether you have one free hour or a whole rainy afternoon, there’s something here for you — 7,500 square feet of aquariums, fishing and history exhibits, a theater, a rotating gallery, and a research library, all a short stroll from the pool.
Steps from your room
Walk in from the resort grounds — you’re here before your drink gets warm. Turn in at the resort’s main entrance and follow the signs to the Center on the north end.
Fit it to your stay
Open Tuesday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. (closed Mondays). Most guests spend an easy hour or two — a perfect morning outing or a rain-proof escape from the beach.
Bring the whole family
Aquariums and hands-on exhibits for the kids, art and archives for the grown-ups — and if your visit lines up with a lecture, kids’ camp, or special event, you’re welcome to join.
A rainy-day plan, solved
When the weather turns, we’re the answer. Cool off indoors with the reef aquariums and the story of the 1935 hurricane — then head straight back to the resort when the sun returns.
Evenings & events
Our lectures, exhibit openings, and community gatherings are open to Islander guests too — a local night out that starts a few steps from your room.
Groups & reunions
Wedding parties, family reunions, and corporate retreats staying at the resort can arrange private tours and group rates through our group visits team.
Islander front desk & concierge
Welcome materials and current hours are available at the resort’s front desk. For group visits, extended-stay programs, or anything special for Islander guests, our staff is glad to help — call (305) 922-2237 or email info@keysdiscovery.com.
